10 Family Movies for Movie Night

  1. Winnie the Pooh: Winnie the Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood embark on a quest to rescue Eeyore’s lost tail. Along the way, they encounter delightful antics and whimsical adventures that highlight the importance of friendship, teamwork, and imagination. This film captures the warmth and simplicity of A.A. Milne’s beloved characters
  2. Zootopia: In a city of anthropomorphic animals, a bunny police officer, Judy Hopps, teams up with a con artist fox, Nick Wilde, to uncover a mystery. This film tackles themes of diversity and inclusion with humor and heart.
  3. Paddington: A friendly bear named Paddington travels from Peru to London, where he finds a loving home with the Brown family. His adventures are full of kindness and mishaps, teaching lessons about acceptance and family.
  4. Tangled: A retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale that follows a princess with magical long hair who has spent her life locked in a tower. When a thief named Flynn Rider stumbles upon her home, they embark on an adventurous journey to discover the world outside. Filled with humor, romance, and catchy songs, Tangled celebrates bravery, self-discovery, and the bonds of love. This was a HUGE favorite in my house for years.
  5. Shrek : An ogre named Shrek embarks on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona, only to discover that love and friendship come in unexpected forms. This hilarious twist on fairy tales is both entertaining and uplifting.
  6. Monsters, Inc: In a world powered by children’s screams, monsters Sulley and Mike discover that laughter is a more powerful source of energy. Their heartwarming friendship and adventure lead to a change in the monster world.
  7. Finding Nemo: Follow the adventurous journey of Marlin, a clownfish, as he searches for his son, Nemo, who has been captured by a diver. Along the way, they encounter colorful characters and learn about friendship and bravery.
  8. Ratatouille: In this foodie story set in Paris, a rat named Remy dreams of becoming a chef. With the help of a young kitchen worker, he navigates the culinary world, proving that anyone can follow their passion, no matter their background. I love to show this to the kids and then make ratatouille. Theme nights are the best kind of movie nights, in my opinion.
  9. How to Train Your Dragon: A young Viking named Hiccup befriends a dragon named Toothless, challenging the long-standing feud between dragons and humans. This beautiful story about friendship and acceptance showcases the power of understanding differences. This movie makes me want to have a pet dragon so badly.
  10. Inside Out: This film is important. It takes you inside the mind of an 11-year-old girl named Riley, where her emotions—Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust—navigate a major life change. It beautifully explores how emotions work together and the importance of embracing all feelings. I cried. My husband cried. My kids just thought it was a nice movie, but I’m sure as they get older they will realize how deep the themes actually go.

About Me

Hello friend, my name is Katie and pizza is my favorite food. Yes, I’m in my thirties and yes, I have three daughters that I’m raising and homeschooling and nagging, but I think you’d be most interested to know that I would eat pizza for every meal of every day and never complain. There was a brief time (ages 8-11) when I thought that mashed potatoes was my favorite food, but I’ve since come around. That being said, I don’t only talk about pizza. Here you will find slices of homeschooling life, home decor, cooking, musings, and an occasional funny meme. In fact, I think you will find a shocking lack of pizza content as a whole, but now you know the truth: Pizza is always close to mind.
