Sausage Tortellini Skillet

This is one of those “recipes” that is so easy you almost don’t need a recipe. It’s highly adaptable and highly delicious, and you can substitute in a variety of meats or cheeses for what I outline here.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella, shredded
  • 2 pounds frozen cheese tortellini
  • 12 oz bag of frozen broccoli

Instructions

Put a large pot of water to boil in order to prepare your tortellini, according to the package instructions. Begin steaming your frozen broccoli, in your favorite way. I just buy the steam-in-the-bag variety. In a large skillet or braiser, brown your sausage. Once brown, add the flour and stir in until it’s incorporated, then add the milk, cheese, and seasonings. Once cooked and drained, mix the broccoli into the pork. Once the tortellini are done, mix them in as well. Voila! Easy dinner. If you find the sauce is too thick, just add a little more milk or even water.

*you could do a chicken and spinach version of this to replace the sausage and broccoli and it would be amazing. I’ve also done a bacon and peas version.

About Me

Hello friend, my name is Katie and pizza is my favorite food. Yes, I’m in my thirties and yes, I have three daughters that I’m raising and homeschooling and nagging, but I think you’d be most interested to know that I would eat pizza for every meal of every day and never complain. There was a brief time (ages 8-11) when I thought that mashed potatoes was my favorite food, but I’ve since come around. That being said, I don’t only talk about pizza. Here you will find slices of homeschooling life, home decor, cooking, musings, and an occasional funny meme. In fact, I think you will find a shocking lack of pizza content as a whole, but now you know the truth: Pizza is always close to mind.
